Bai Zhihong, female, M.A., associate professor in Department of
Anthropology ,Yunnan University. Studied Women Studies and Comparative
Politics at Whitman College in Washington State, USA from 1994 to
1995. Studied post-modern anthropology theories and gender theories
at Department of Anthropology of Asia and Pacific Institute in Australian
National University.
Courses taught include: Introduction to Feminist Theory,
Sex and Culture, Feminist Anthropology. Participated in many gender
and development workshops sponsored by Women and Development Institute
of Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, American Society for Chinese
Women Studies and Winlock. Attended International symposiums in
Thailand, New Zealand, Singapore and Australia on several occasions
and read papers. Mains areas of interest include: Gender of the
Yi and the Bai in Yunnan Province, gender and development, women
and development of ethnic minorities, and impact of economic development
and development policies of the government on minority communities.
Published several papers in Overseas Social Sciences and other journals.
