Ma Jing, Moslem, graduated from Department of Anthropology of Zhongshan
(Sun Yat'sen) University as Bachelor of Ethnology in 1987, and as
Master of Arts in 1990, majoring in ethno-linguistics. Now deputy
Party Secretary of School of Humanities and Arts and Director of
Teaching Research Office of the Department of Anthropology, Yunnan
University, associate professor and M.A. program adviser, Ph.D candidate.
Council member of China Ethnology Society, Deputy Secretary-General
of China Urban Anthropology Society, Research Fellow of the Center
for Study of Issues Concerning China's Ethnic Groups, Evaluation
Specialist of World Bank on West China Basic Education Development
Program for Ethnic Minorities. Visited Hong Kong, U.S.A and Japan
on short-term basis.
Courses taught include: Cultural Anthropology, Linguistic
Anthropology, Urban Anthropology, Investigation of Languages of
Minority Ethnic Groups, etc. Main publications include Investigation
of Yunnan's Ethnic Minority Communities: the Yi (as editor), Outstanding
Figures of China's Ethnic Groups (as deputy editor-in-chief), Developmental
Anthropology (co-author), Urbanization of China's Rural Areas (co-author),
and more than 20 published papers. Won first prize in a province-level
Young Teachers' Classroom Teaching Competition in 1995.
